Shanley graduate Meyer looking to go on Pine to Palm success - INFORUM

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. —Fargo Shanley graduate Grady Meyer completed his junior ripen as a captain for the University of Minnesota men's golf team. He will return to Detroit Lakes for the Pine to Palm in August, order for a third consecutive medalist honor in a wide-open field with the past two champions not attending after turning whiz. In 2014, Meyer earned medalist honors for the first time shooting an eight-under 134 to repulse golfing buddy Greg Melhus (2003 champion) and 2014 champion Ben Welle by three strokes. Meyer completed a fruitful junior season at Minnesota this spring, playing in eight tournaments. "It was getting more comfortable with college golf. You have to get adjusted to school and golf. Mentoring younger players on the work together as a captain has added to his Gopher duties. "I'm there for any of the young guy's needs," he said. "I'm always there for them, to point them in the right direction and be a OK champion role model on and off the course and set a great example. It's just little things like being on time, making satisfied guys are doing their school work and things like that. This summer, Meyer made the first of two stops at two of the oldest amateurish tournaments in the country, finishing tied.
